Facing the challenges of climate change and extreme weather, more than 130 countries have pledged to reach net zero emissions by 2050, with energy transition and renewable energy development becoming the top priorities of every government. Among them, keeping electricity provision stable while increasing the usage of renewables, which can be a source of uncertainty when it comes to electricity generation due to their intermittency, is a hurdle needs to be overcome. Energy storage system can come to our aid and has great profit potential.
TPE, with Powin Energy's batteries, built a 2MW ESS in Taoyuan after winning Taipower's bid for AFC in 2020. Since its commencement of operation on May 21, the system has made the record of uninterrupted service of AFC in June and July and acquired a perfect score of 1. The awarding price promised by the bilateral contract is NT$648 per hour, which means the site can bring in NT$930,000 service fees every month for TPE.
Powin Energy has installed battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Israel and Taiwan which, while small by comparison to some of the company’s recent US projects, mark entry into new territories for the Oregon-headquartered system integrator.
